On the occasion of the International Woman Day, the Egyptian Association for Educational Resources and Shawnee Mission South High school in the US celebrated the event through holding a DVC on the 2nd of March, 2009 among the two groups of students. The US Embassy hosted the event for the Egyptian students. The Egyptian students were from New Ramses College and another group working on the “Millennium development goals”.

The program involved Arabic/English introductions, reference and presentation on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) especially with Goal #3 which is related to women empowerment and gender equality, and an interactive discussion on the issues of women in reference to social context, empowerment, and actions/progress taking place to improve current status
