African Leadership Academy Scholarship (ALA)

E-ERA has organized an information session for the African Leadership Academy Scholarship (ALA). Mr. Mahdy Ibrahim, director, explained the details of the scholarship and answered all questions of parents and students. Thirty students attended the session and filled the application.

Conflict Resolution

Conflict Resolution skills are necessary for a “civilized” society, and the democratic process. Ability to practice conflict resolution skills and techniques can ensure the elimination of any levels of violence in all ethnic and socio-economic levels, racism, and practices of discrimination. With dedication and will, society can change for the better for everyone. It depends on the vision and the commitment of hope, individual and mutual responsibility; of having a legitimate place in society; of open-mindedness; a determination for peace, democracy and social justice.

In collaboration with AMIDEAST/Jordan, the Egyptian Association for Educational Resources (E-ERA) is holding a series of activities to enhance youth’s skills in conflict resolution. The activities will involve:

- Essay Writing

- One Day Seminar

- Train the Trainers Workshop

To participate, you need to:

- have interest in the topic

- be age 14 – 20 years old

- communicate effectively in the English Language

- write a 500 – 750 words about any of the following questions:

o Identify conflict in our lives and how to overcome it?

o From your point of view, do you think conflict resolution can be applied on a personal level or only on international levels? Why?

o What are the many different areas of conflict that we encounter through the course of an average day? How to overcome conflict in a constructive way?

- send your response, name, and contact information (email & mobile number) to development@egypt-era.org no later than March 31

After reviewing all received essays, E-ERA will select 20 participants to attend the Conflict Resolution Seminar.

Ms. Amira Sobeih has a Diploma in Economic – Faculty of Law, Alexandria University, and Istanbul Üniversitesi. Ms. Sobeih is a member (YES_Egypt) -Youth Employment Summit (YES) Campaign, Executive Director of Director’s Office Sector – TARABOT, MY TecC Instructor\Consultant – UNDP-ICTDAR, and ICT Program Coordinator -Co Founder SDA. Ms. Sobeih is also a researcher at the International Institute for Sustainable Development and a volunteer at Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Ms. Sobeih has a number of publications Digital Inclusion in Preserving the Environment, Disability and IT, The Egyptian women in the Egyptian Agricultural, Youth and special needs, and Developing Connection: Bridging the Policy Gap between Information Society. Ms. Sobeih is also a Legal Translator – Control Union Egypt LLC (Member of Peyerson Control Union group), and Legal translator – ElDib Advocates.

Access Youth Summit 2011

On January 28, 2011, E-ERA has organized the Access Youth Summit at Association of Upper Egypt for Education and Development (AUEED) in Menya. The summit attracted 95 Access students and alumni, enjoyed learning, exchanged experiences, and had fun. Participants came from Fayoum, Beni Suef, Assuit, Menya, and Cairo.
