Digital Journal: Capturing Special Moments
The Digital Journal is an interactive approach to assist funded participants by ECA and the US Embassy in Cairo to document their reflections about the whole American experience in motion picture and video through; Creating a friendly website, on which students could share their experiences in various exchange programs of the ECA and US Embassy, provide taining for students to be able to use the platform and share their experiences using digital video camcoders, mentoring videos and documentaries uploaded by students on weekly basis.
Newsfeed: Trainings for participants for the year 2010 was conducted successfully introducing participants to the importance of video journaling and providing a hands on experience with dealing with cameras and shooting techniques.
iEARN Conference and Youth Summit, Canada, 2010
Through a generous grant from the RELO office at the US Embassy in Cairo, E-ERA was able to support an Egyptian delegation of eight youth and one educator to participate in the iEARN Annual International Conference and Youth Summit that took place in Barrie, Canada.
One teacher, two iEARN Egypt students, one iEARN Egypt alumni and four ACCESS students were able to make it as finalists for the scholarship and one-self funded student. The selection was handled by three board members and RELO office.
The Egyptian delegation actively participated in the event. The delegation also enjoyed the cultural experience in Canada, site seeing, and learning about the world and global issues through their international colleagues.
The 18th iEARN Conference and 15th Youth Summit will take place in Taiwan in 2011. Stay tuned for more info!
Non-Nuclear Peace Conference
Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010 was such a great day in which the “Non-Nuclear Peace” Conference has taken place in Kobet El-Ghory, ElHussein, Cairo. About 60 Egyptian students, from iEARN Egypt and ACCESS Program, and about 15 representatives to iEARN Schools, Ministry of Culture, E-era have attended the conference. Also, about 9 Japanese students and 4 representatives to iEARN Japan and Japan Art Miles Project have attended, too. The students made many presentations about peace and how can they achieve peace. Also, they showed 4 murals, 2 from the Japanese side and 2 from the Egyptian side, showing peace in the eyes of both students. At the end of the day, there was a cultural performed by the Egyptian students which really was amazing and the closing ceremony at the last. Have a look at the agenda and the photos of the day.
Capacity Building Training 2010-2011
2nd, 3rd, 4th September 2010 in the NGOs Union, Heliopolis were outstanding days at the beginning of the new iEARN Egypt year. 25 students from 4 different governorates participated in the Capacity Building Program. The age range of the students was from 12 to 20 years. They learned many essential skills to start working in the next year. Here are some examples of the sessions: “How to make a project”, “Presentation Skills”, “School Visit Content” and more sessions. See photos of these days here
